Here’s my Grandpa Slater standing out front of Engine House#10 on Division, sometime in February 1929. He’s the tall handsome guy to the left of the fire truck. How about those bow ties! He’d retire in 1959. He almost died in the line of fire once. That’s what I’m writing about. Tentative title “Grandpa’s close call”.
I retired from the Rheumatology division of Michigan Medicine end of June '19 after 36 years there. Upon hitting Ann Arbor for the second time (I went to school here) it took me almost 8 months to meet Kathy, 17 months to buy her a house (on Harbal, where we still live), and 37 months to marry her. Kids never came, but we've been blessed with a crowd of colleagues, friends, neighbors and family that continues to grow. Lots of them are going to show up in this log eventually. Stay tuned.

Where? His great grandaughter Maria in Virginia, daughter of my cousin Linda, is a firefighter/EMT. I out this up mainly so I could send the link to an old irse friend in St.Louis and I couldn’t seem that pic to go as a text. I was going to take it down but I may leave it up. I’m working on a much bigger project about Grandpa.
I’m surprised by the number of women
