my C.V.

Now, this one’s a snoozer. I’m signing up for my free access to Research Gate, as much of what I do with medical writing involves looking up other people’s work, and RG seems to be good for that. I just used it to find the email of a Japanese professor whose work did not show up on PubMed or Scopus. The RG people mention including a link to my curriculum vitae, and I realize that if I posted it here, I’d have a URL. So here goes. In academics we’re expected to write down most everything we do so higher ups looking at our progess can see evidence of it. I’m pleased to say I continue to add to this document nearly a year and a half into retirement. If you think I’m bragging, realize that “successful” academic docs my age who have reached “fool” professor usually have racked up 200 publications or more compared to my mere 50 or so. Unfortunately, promotions committees don’t count blog posts.

I retired from the Rheumatology division of Michigan Medicine end of June '19 after 36 years there. Upon hitting Ann Arbor for the second time (I went to school here) it took me almost 8 months to meet Kathy, 17 months to buy her a house (on Harbal, where we still live), and 37 months to marry her. Kids never came, but we've been blessed with a crowd of colleagues, friends, neighbors and family that continues to grow. Lots of them are going to show up in this log eventually. Stay tuned.
